Related: About this forumEli Lilly ad focusing on the Scientific Method
I saw this ad during a CNN program this morning. (Yeah, I know, but I watch Fareed Zakaria and Manu Raju, SOTU usually gets my blood pressure up so I avoid it.)
The ad went through the conventional steps we teach in science classes and showed researchers during the process. What I liked was the part about testing, and testing, and testing again then requestioning, etc. It seemed very real to me and showed research as not a smooth progression from A to B, but a constant testing and questioning process. I don't think those who haven't been associated with actual research get the reality.
Just my 2¢.

I think we mislead students into thinking science is a smooth process.
