EPA Head Scott Pruitt: God Gave Us This Planet, So We Can Destroy It
February 23, 2018 by Hemant Mehta
We already know that Scott Pruitt, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is a climate denier. He doesnt care what scientists have to say about the very issues he oversees. Thats why it wont surprise you that hes completely behind the push for coal and oil, despite the harm extracting those resources.
What is surprising, maybe, is the reason hes giving for doing that.
It has nothing to do with science. Instead, he says drilling for oil and mining coal is what God wants us to do. He said as much during an interview with (you guessed it) the Christian Broadcasting Network. The environmental left tells us that, though we have natural resources like natural gas and oil and coal, and though we can feed the world, we should keep those things in the ground, put up fences and be about prohibition, Pruitt said. Thats wrongheaded and I think its counter to what we should be about.
Pruitt believes God commands us to take care of the environment and that also means to use what He has provided. The biblical world view with respect to these issues is that we have a responsibility to manage and cultivate, harvest the natural resources that weve been blessed with to truly bless our fellow mankind.
In other words, God gave us this planet, so Scott Pruitt thinks we can destroy it. Its what Jesus wanted.

(7,582 posts)I think the author is misrepresenting what he says in his CBN quote. Pruitt is a money grubbing, arrogant neanderthal (with a dash of Reptilian), no question about it. He's not brandishing the "we can indiscriminately destroy the Earth because God said so" meme. And BTW, who gives a rat's ass about "the Biblical view" and why are Pruitt's beliefs worthy of dissemination? That's for Sunday mornings, and it's for Christo-fascist ministers to utter. Pruitt has no expertise in theological studies. He's just blowing shit out of his ass and CBN is pretending that Pruitt, because of his government position, has inherited some kind of Biblical mantel and has instantaneously become some kind of holier than thou pop-up moralizer.

Is Pruitt one of those guys trying to force Armegeddon so he can be raptured?

(13,631 posts)So God blessed Noah and his sons, and said to them: "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth. And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be on every beast of the earth, on every bird of the air, on all that move on the earth, and on all the fish of the sea. They are given into your hand. (Genesis 9:1-2)
Then there's the line god says to Adam... to go forth and fill the earth and subdue it....
Don't you just love that happy talk from god?
It's more like... make fear, seek, destroy and eviscerate the planet and it's inhabitants.
