Love this story. This should be repeated wherever troglodytes are banning books.
Snip
Incest, onanism, bestiality, prostitution, genital mutilation, fellatio, dildos, rape, and even infanticide,” the parent wrote in their request, according to the Salt Lake Tribune, which obtained a copy of the request. “You’ll no doubt find that the Bible, under Utah Code Ann. § 76-10-1227, has ‘no serious values for minors’ because it’s pornographic by our new definition.”
The Bible absolutely contains all of this and more. A personal NSFW favorite is Song of Solomon, a rapturous piece of erotica, describing a woman’s breasts in painfully horny detail as “two fawns” and “clusters of fruit,” and pleas for a man to eat the “precious fruits” of her “garden.” King David is overcome with lust for a woman named Bathsheba, who he’s been creeping on while she bathes, and commits adultery with her, later murdering her husband. Samson’s downfall is a femdom named Delilah. Noah’s son Ham catches his dad nude and drunk off his ass, and accidentally sees his dick; for this, Noah curses Ham’s bloodline to lives of slavery. Lot’s daughters get him drunk and rape him repeatedly while he’s blacked out. There are more references to, and encouragement of, killing babies in violent ways than I care to name but feel free to search that up. God gets really pissed at the citizens of Judah for smelting all the jewelry he gave them down into fucktoys.

(113,169 posts)since the modern usage is either a fish ovary stuffed full of eggs or an investment scheme. Either seems like an odd comparison, as bad as "fawns." I mean, were they all spotty? Absolutely motionless? What?
One person came up with a really obscure reference of the time of the KJV that said it might have been baby bunnies, which makes a bit more sense.
Atheists seem to be the only ones who have read that bit. Too many Christians seem to be more obsessed with the bits that tell them who they can hate.

To not hate would destroy their entire delusional construct.
Hate is a feature of delusion, it's a fruit that it bears.

(113,169 posts)I've cared for a lot of delusional people who didn't particularly hate anyone, even when they thought their food was being poisoned.
I have only met one scary delusional person. I was right to think he was scary, he committed mass murder 3 years later.
Now ignorance + superstition, that's a toxic package and those people can be talked into just about anything, especially when they're pointed at other people as the cause of their cognitive dissonance. See: Florida.

(2,996 posts)Superstition is a flavor of delusional ignorance.
Malevolence varies, often being turned upon one's self.
Those that I and my wife grew up with, within the cult that we were part of, have had an exceptionally high rate of suicide, sexual abuse, spousal rape, homicides, drug abuse, assault and battery incidents.
The community that surrounds us here in Caddo Parish Louisiana has one of the highest per capita incidence of Abrahamic cults in the entire country.
Our violent crime rate and overall crime rate typically exceeds that of Chicago.
The amount of crimes that I see in the state in the name of God is astonishing.
It's been this way ever since I was a child.

(6,946 posts)if you are involved in a multi-generational Big Work of Writing the Lord's messages, boredom might set in at some stage and your mind wanders and some lewdness might creep into your work.
Others at the time wouldn't question it, seeing it is (meant to be) the True Words of the Lord.
I guess they didn't have porn websites in those days.
But yes, ban the Bible for lewdness. Seems the logical thing to do under the current prevailing mind set in some places.

(2,996 posts)Once you're bought in it's exceptionally rare for reason to be restored.
Delusion requires the ongoing generation of further delusion, lie stacked upon lie.
Doubt is the path to reason, delusion blocks that path.
Thus reason is rejected in it's entirety lest it blow away the strawmen's lies.
May reason rule.

(2,996 posts)The moral lessons are mythological cautionary tales of man's former delusional depravity.
These are not individuals and societies to emulate, these are individuals and societies that were torn asunder and tore others asunder because of their delusion.
i.e. King David, "a man after YAHWEH's own heart."
How very telling indeed.
