Article: I gave "30 Questions to Ask Atheists" a try. Here is the result.

?1740873765

"My adult son got this from someone he knows. It’s from the Christian apologist Joel Settecase of The Think Institute,

' The goal is not to win the argument but to engage in meaningful dialogue, to seek "truth in conversation"…Encouraging an unbeliever to really examine their own worldview can be a powerful apologetic tool.'

"Well, I am an unbeliever and my boy wanted me to give his 30 Questions to Ask Atheists, Agnostics & Skeptics a try. I think he wants crib notes. Anyways, here is the result:"

3. I think that either people believe or they don't. No talking into or out of. That's ok.

Unless either side imposes their side on the other. That's not ok.

... I can do a good job on the flavors of deity believers believe in.

Obviously they don't want you to actually answer it honestly.

They think this is clever. I suppose it is clever if you are are trying to impress someone in a 6th grade school cafeteria.

If, like me, you haven't received it, there's no way you can be talked into it--it has to be bestowed.

I'm also sure my mind would never do such a thing to me when it was functioning correctly.

As soon as it got to the question "Do you use your 5 senses..." blah blah blah, I knew where this was going.

Does anyone remember that dipshit from a few years ago named "Sye Ten Bruggencate"? He was this dopey apologist that made a splash on the interwebs because he used this kind of argument against Atheists until he got picked apart by Matt Dillahunty and a few others. He subsequently "left the ministry" because of a so called "moral failing" which turned out he was probably forcing himself on a woman (or more than one) and it was about to be made public.

Anyway, this idea that Atheists actually do believe in god because your senses can not tell you god doesn't exist or some such nonsense is what this line of questioning is about. It "Presupposes" that god exists and that you can not have a moral compass without knowing this.

It is an extremely circular and fallacious argument.

It's just a form of mental maturation directed at themselves.
