god's mysterious ways

Boy did I piss off some FB posters in a thread about a woman who was bungee jumping off a bridge in Africa over a river. The cord broke, she slammed into the water causing serious injuries, she floated down stream and almost drowned before being rescued by someone from the shore. But the Jesus freaks couldn't help themselves and had to talk about how god was protecting her by preventing crocodiles from tearing her apart. This was a section of the river without crocs normally, but the click bait headline was about croc infested waters.

My response was snarky, but basically, maybe god could have made sure the bungee didn't break instead. Boy did that set some people off. "Oh the blasphemy!" I am damned to hell, this is the worst sin in god's eyes. LOL.

My last response was probably too much, but I couldn't resist. Basically laughing and saying how ridiculous it is that their all knowing all powerful invisible sky fairy knew the cord would break and did nothing to prevent this woman's horrible injuries, but she should be thankful that she wasn't torn apart by crocodiles because of the lord.

Too much?

There's not much sense in trying to have a legimate debate with them on whatever they're delusional about, but I do try to help them with their psychological difficulties in the hope they might overcome their delusions, if they seem open to it.

I just was kind of triggered by the fact these loons were praising the lord for something when it had zero to do with religion. They just cannot help themselves by injecting their nonsense into every story.

I'ver decided I am going to start being a more vocal atheist, letting this stuff go all the time is not helping anyone.

If god exists I don't think he is mysterious.

I think he is evil and useless.

I can't believe this unproven nonsense is being forced on us more everyday.

I am so sick of politicians referring to god, prayers, prayer breakfasts, 10 commandments in schools, etc..

At what point will believers be forced to prove their god exists ???

Is that we live in a country with a Constitution that protects our right to not believe in anything, and the founders were very clear that this is not a Christian nation in any way as it relates to our government. But despite this, we're seeing a government more and more overtly religious and intolerant of other beliefs. The one country who first protected religious freedom, including freedom from religion, is on the fast track to becoming a theocracy.

Starting with the Puritans, The Great Awakening, etc.

Regardless, I'm just thankful that the sick fuck in the white house seems to be devoid of religious inclination. His followers are already full blown cultists. I don't want to think where we'd be if he was a competent christian apologist.

They're targeting people here legally for ejection from the country because of their speech. I can envision an America where Elon's AI identifies non Christians for suspension of benefits. I think Elon is already using his AI to target people based on skin color.

Nothing lef ...... WAIT ! There is something. It's a miracle. Their plaster grotto with the Virgin Mary in it is still here. Not a scratch on it.

See? Da Lord does work miracles. Now God did shit to protect their house.... but the grotto. I guess he's got his priorities.

... perhaps we forgot about those laws. Tornados aren't punishments. they are part of the planet. Maybe we need to account for tornadoes in our environment and develop strategies to minimize exposure with our G*D given brains.

California has building codes to account for earthquakes, and Florida. particularly Broward County has codes that recognize we aren't going to pray away or ignore away hurricanes.

...told me that, in their time, the entire world is united in peace , love, and understanding.
"How did this come about?" I asked.
"Simple! Jesus was real, and He raptured all the Christians up to Heaven! The rest of us breathed a sigh of relief, and the world's been at peace ever since."
