Bereavement
Related: About this forumLost a friend over the weekend
She got a pacemaker inserted right before Thanksgiving and never made it out of the hospital. Complications. Hospital staff overwhelmed with Covid-19 cases. Her kids transferred her from the hospital where her surgery went wrong to another hospital, but it was too late. She fought hard, but the deck was stacked against her.
Her ex-husband, the kids' dad passed away of cancer in September. I am sad for the kids. They have lost both parents in such a short time, and they are heartbroken.
My husband and I used to be good friends with that family, and knew the kids as they grew up. We moved away from the area, and lost the closeness, but always stayed in touch and friends. I will miss her. She was a kind, honest, and practical woman, and a good friend.

(19,181 posts)Service was graveside/outside. First time in many years to see her. We were still the same. It was one of those friendships.
