Daieisho Wins the Grand Sumo New Years Tournament

The Maegashira #1 defeated all three Ozeki's during the tournament and finished with a 13 win 2 loss record for the 15 day New Years's Hon Basho

It’s been nice to see random rikishi winning tournaments lately, but I miss watching the two Yokozuna. And, with my boy Enho out this time, I didn’t watch as much as I usually do.
I did see that great Day 14 Terunofuji v. Shodai match!

missed the last basho also. They have both received letters for the associations prompting them to compete. If they do not make the next tournament, the association will recommend they retire. Kakuryu has said he will compete in the next basho. Hakuho has covid and I do not know what his plans are right now.
