UPDATE: Judge lets Clinton join recount lawsuit

I think she's actually fighting for transparency and not the Presidency.

A judge has allowed Hillary Clinton to join Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein's lawsuit seeking a hand recount in Wisconsin.

Dane County Circuit Judge Valerie Bailey-Rihn granted a request from Clinton's attorneys to join the lawsuit without comment during a hearing Tuesday afternoon. Clinton's team had argued she has a stake in the recount and manual counting is the most transparent method for the public.

Donald Trump beat Clinton by about 22,000 votes in Wisconsin. The recount will start Thursday if Stein or De La Fuente or both meet a Tuesday deadline to pay the $3.5 million cost.

because the donors have really slowed down. We need 3 million more to cover the newest estimate.

What happens if tomorrow we don't have the money for MI?

and it's a fixed fee.

Stein has pulled in $6.5 million, and we know for sure that she's spent $3.5 million, leaving $3 million. A high end estimate for PA filing fees would be $150,000, based on 3000 affidavits at $50/each. I doubt she had 3000 petitions, and not all precincts were charging, so that number is probably high, so that leaves $2.85 million.

So, unless she's spent $2.25 million on legal fees, she should have plenty to file in Michigan.

Where she might have problems later is if the Wisconsin recount comes in at higher than estimated...if she's already spent the money in the account, she's going to come up short.

Taxpayers could be on the hook for close to $1 million — or more — for a proposed recount of Michigan's presidential election results, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson said Tuesday.

Green Party candidate Jill Stein, who took just more than 1% of the presidential vote in the Nov. 8 election, has announced she will request a statewide recount by Wednesday's deadline as a check against possible counting mistakes or fraud.

Stein is being charged $125 per precinct, a cost originally estimated at $787,500 in total.
But Michigan Elections Director Chris Thomas said Monday the actual cost charged to Stein could be around $900,000, based on the final size of the recount and the addition of absentee ballot precincts. Any cost beyond the $125 per precinct would be borne by taxpayers at the county level, he said.

Stein's campaign said in a Tuesday news release it expects to pay a Michigan filing fee of $973,250.

But Tuesday, appearing on the "Paul W. Smith Show" on WJR-AM (760), Johnson estimated the cost will be double what Thomas estimated.

Other states need to look at how Wisconsin does it...charge the true amount, and get it up front.
