(15,530 posts)He wants to be not just hated but reviled to the core. Being hated and bad behavior is a political tactic of dictators and tyrants so they can identify and isolate enemy opposition. This man challenges credulity, it is like a fifth column of traitors calling out the general population.

His idea of power is the power to hurt and to endlessly dominate. He wants the adulation of others who are as cruel as he is. Never mind what he MIGHT do with it; this is already damaging and enraging, and his minions are more than willing to carry out actual acts of aggression and torture in his name. #RESIST

(291 posts)I recall reading that he feels energized when he has adversaries and something to fight against. So, these kind of tweets not only serve to gladden the groins of his minions but serve a psychological need for him to have a coalesced force or representative person to oppose him. These kind of taunting tweets bring him what he desires--an altercation of some form. Expect this as a regular tool of his to get him what he needs to rev himself up.

(56,840 posts)Just one or two out of every 100. If 1 vote in 100 had flipped last month, it would have been an electoral landslide - for Clinton (FL, NC, PA, WI, MI) - and with the closeness of GA and AZ, the story would have been is the GOP down and out for a generation at the presidential level?

(4,062 posts)Secondly, that narrow victory depended on a string of promises in the rust belt that he cannot possibly keep.
Third, when confronted with failure he attacks and gets nasty. In an unguarded moment, his disrespect for the ungrateful little people will be shining through if they have the gall to tell him he wasn't the greatest thing ever.
I might have low opinions of Trump voters, but they are all happy right now because they think they know what they got from him. When they find out they're actually gonna get a big shit taco and he's laughing at them about it....well, they won't be skulking off.

(10,721 posts)...the "economic messaging" narrative, the "only a fraction are bigots" narrative and the "anti-establishment" narrative. But many cling to those narratives. I suppose people don't want to acknowledge that bigotry is as big of a problem as it is (in the country, in their own family, maybe even in themselves). And they want simple solutions, such as "just talk about economics more."

Obama Calls His Critics "Enemies"
Written by Raven Clabough
In a last-ditch effort to salvage the Democratic majority, President Obama is encouraging Hispanic voters to remain inspired by stalled immigration "reform" to vote against Republicans on Election Day. More importantly, President Obama is inspiring his constituents to "punish our enemies and reward our friends," encouraging a similar kind of "thugocracy" we have seen with labor unions.
In a radio interview that aired on Univision yesterday, Obama assured Hispanics that immigration overhaul was next on the agenda, despite the lack of Republican support:
If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, "Were going to punish our enemies and were gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us," if they dont see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think its going to be harder, and thats why I think its so important that people focus on voting on November 2.
News organizations such as the National Review and Fox News view Obama's remarks during his Univision interview as polarizing, creating an us vs. them atmosphere.
Worse, Americans see the comments as threatening. According to Prison Planet, the statements were astounding new levels of rhetoric from the Great Uniter. Weasel Zippers calls it Leftist demagoguery at its finest. Death By 1000 Papercuts asked: Why does this presidents rhetoric sound increasingly like its coming from a dictator of some two-bit Marxist hellhole? Maybe its some sort of wish fulfillment.
Perhaps, however, when President Obama elected to label his opponents as enemies, he forgot that old proverb, The enemy of my enemy is my friend that may work against him in the upcoming elections.
BAM
HEY!! more stuff about enemies!! lol

Since when are opposing political parties in the US considered enemies in the sense you are discussing? Hes so brainwashed with Alinskys Rules for Radicals that he cant do the job he was elected to do. The President of the United States is supposed to be above this petty partisanship.
As far as real enemies go, that is why there is the Secret Service.

Straight out of Alinsky. Political opponents are enemies to be demonized, discredited and destroyed.

Freepers call Americans the enemy every day...if theyre democrats or liberals or someone they dont like. Whats the big deal?
The difference is that none of us FReepers - that I know of - has been elected to the one position that represents, and leads, *all* of the people...
(A historical note - Richard Nixon was pilloried for his enemies list... Why should Obama get a pass??)

Not now. Under Obama, illegal immigration has become a political if not a racially charged issue. Supporters of blanket amnesty saw an evolving demographic process of fundamentally transforming the electorate of the American Southwest, resonating with Obamas own unfortunate lead, as in his advice to Latinos to punish our enemies.
