(694 posts)and I don't believe you should have to donate to keep that crap off your computer.
I had to use ghostery browser just to read.
I had to use google to post, but it was a struggle with auto-run video.
Sorry this is happening to you.

There is a banner Ad below the top navigation tabs (Home, Latest Threads, Greatest Threads, etc.), a vertical Ad below the forum list/links on the left side (Announcements, Latest Breaking News, etc.), and when viewing threads there is a square Ad in the upper right of the opening post plus a block of Ads right below the opening post.
None of them should cover up any part of the DU content. I have seen the left vertical Ad be weird when changing how the left side forum list is expanded and/or collapsed. If that is where the problem is, try toggling some Topics or Places to expand or collapse them to see if it relegates the Ads back to their designated area. Does it seem to happen for a particular Ad or Ads?
Perhaps you could take a screen capture and post it so others can see what you are seeing. Or at least describe it in more detail - including what browser/OS your using and what exactly is getting blocked. Is it the same on each page or does the problem change locations?

(8,546 posts)I thought Google Ads were supposed to determine the Ad container size and serve something that fits.
You might try zooming the page in (Ctrl +), out (Ctrl -), or no zoom (Ctrl 0) to see if that makes a difference. Also try reloading a DU page without using cached content (Ctrl Shift R) in case there is some error in your cached stylesheet for DU. And if you haven't tried already, quit the browser and reopen.
Honestly, that looks like Google is just serving up Ads that are the wrong size. But as a precaution you should run a virus and malware scan to make sure something else hasn't appropriated that Ad space.
Unfortunately I don't really know anything about Chromebooks and I rarely use Chrome so I can't offer much advice. I would suggest posting about this in the Ask The Administrators forum to see if they can contact Google to try to resolve it - if it's happening for you, it's probably affecting others as well.

(1,383 posts)It seems to be back to normal this morning. I plan on becoming a star member soon anyway - paying off some debts this summer then I am on board.
Cheers!
