How do I make the navigation menu left of screen go away?

It's taking up space that I need to better read the text on the page.

I didn't choose this change. I remember this happened once before a long time ago and I could figure out how to make it disappear, but no more.

1. Do you mean the list of DU forums, etc., in a column to the left?

Or might it be a different list-- some browsers will open a side bar of browser-based features like downloads, unrelated to DU.

What browser do you use and on what device: desktop, notebook, pad or phone?

2. On my screen, at the top right of that menu, there is a black arrow (in a little box).

If I click on that black arrow, the menu goes away.

5. I used to have that arrow but don't any more.

3. At the very top of that navigation column you'll find an X at the right of it...

to make it disappear and the full screen comes back.

I'd somehow opened that column before too.

4. I just tried adjusting the

zoom on my browser to 240% which crowds out the menu.
BTW I use Firefox. Hope this helps.

7. Drag the browser window to the left a couple of inches until it disappears
