..I liked it.
From filmmaker Alex Garland comes a journey across a dystopian future America, following a team of military-embedded journalists as they race against time to reach DC before rebel factions descend upon the White House.
Kirsten Durst stars in it. Anyone??

(60 posts)I saw it on the first day when it premiered in theaters over two years ago. A good, eye-opening movie for these dark times.
From Wikipedia: "The film made $10.8 million on its first day, including $2.9 million from Thursday night previews (a record for an A24 release). It went on to debut to $25.7 million, surpassing Hereditary as the biggest opening weekend in A24's history as well as the studio's first film to top the box office."
I'm an avid moviegoer. This is an example of a movie that should ideally be seen in a movie theater on the biggest screen possible. I know most people stream nowadays but the immersive experience of a movie like Civil War just cannot be replicated at home.
Garland is definitely one of my favorite directors whose titles include Ex Machina, Civil War, and Warfare. He also wrote 28 Years Later and the other films in that series.

(6,719 posts)The moviemakers, by design, bent over backwards to keep from choosing sides, and I felt that at times that stretched the credibility of the narrative a bit. I mean, a scenario where Texas and California team up to overthrow the government? 'Whatevs,' as the kids say. Still, technically it was well done and the acting was fine. Any reservations I have, and they weren't dealbreakers for me, lie with the script.

(15,283 posts)The opening sequence is accompanied by a song from my early adulthood..Silver Apples' "Lovefingers" (1968)
I was so excited and surprised to hear that song I kind of shouted out .."That's Silver Apples".
Nobody noticed.
We were stunned by the potential of reality in the movie, but did enjoy the movie..
The Cameo of Dunst's real life husband Jesse Plemons with his.."What kind of American are you?"..
can never be forgotten.

(11,924 posts)but, forgive me, I find the idea of "military-embedded journalists" saving anyone from anything highly implausible.
