It's a Mad Mad Mad World (1963)

After a long prison sentence Smiler Grogan is heading at high speed to a California park where he hid $350,000 from a job 15 years previously. He accidentally careers over a cliff in view of four cars whose occupants go down to help. The dying Grogan gives details of where the money is buried and when the witnesses fail to agree on sharing the cash, a crazy chase develops across the state.

And to think that the this is from same Stanley Kramer that made: On The Beach, Judgment at Nuremberg, Inherit the Wind, The Caine Mutiny, High Noon and many other dramas!

Admittedly, I've never seen this film, but it is on the list.

Watched it a couple times over the years but not in quite a while. Think I'll catch it tonight when there's nothing to do, thanks.

it's best watched with a group of people, (more than 3,) especially if there are some present who've never seen it. It seems that the gags are funnier with the "crowd factor."

Towards the end, they're all looking around, scratching their heads and trying to find "The Big 'W'". I remember shouting at the screen: "It's right there! Can't you see it?"

I read an online report a number of years ago that states the Big W has long since fallen down...

the best scenes are Jimmy Durante, Jack Benny, The 3 Stooges do absolutely nothing but it's the thought that counts. Ethel Merman steals the movie.
