Haven’t seen it but everyone says it’s good.

Originally it was to be released in July 2019 but that decided they needed to reshoot some scenes. Then I think it was a February or March release but COVID hit. They waited thru 2021 too.

Meant for the big screen and it’s made a lot more money than selling it on a streaming service.

Because they perceive it as being "Liberal" or "Woke" based on what Conservative media has told them. Of course good old fashioned militarism is going to sell well among the deplorables.

Most liberals don't care as long as there isn't in-your-face bigotry and the film is well done.

Then Fox News can go thump their chests and proclaim that only films approved by the Red Hats (ie. The "Real" Americans) will do well.

All political sides are going to see it. It’s refreshing to have a great movie to see.

Republicans won't go to movies that they perceive as hostile to their beliefs, or made by people that they don't like. I hear this all the time from my Republican relatives.

They are the biggest "Cancel Culture" practitioners there ever was.

Walked out after ¾ done.. It seemed too cliché, too cheesy a rehash of old scenes. Too bland and corny for me.. Maybe I expected more.. Old faces and some new ones...
I really liked the old one... YMMV

And most liberals are okay with enjoying some mindless entertainment once and awhile.

Ironically it was my first movie date with my husband who was in the Navy at that time. He was handsome like Tom Cruise. We both enjoyed that new movie 36 years later!
