Triamcinolone acetonide cream and blood sugar

My primary care doc prescribed this cream for some mild eczema on an ankle. It cleared quickly but I still had cream left. Recently I used it on some rash, bumps on my neck and got immediate improvement. But at the same time I had unexpected spikes in blood sugar. I just did a search on the use of steroids and the possible effects on blood sugar. I found this:

Also tell your doctor if you have diabetes. Topical steroid medicines absorbed through the skin may increase the glucose (sugar) levels in your blood or urine.

I made the connection because as the skin condition was resolved I quite using the cream and the spikes stopped. Makes me wonder if I can trust my doc.

cause the glucose-related (and other) side effects of oral steroids. While there is now ample evidence this is not true, not all physicians (or veterinarians) realize the evidence has disproven that assumption.

and, while maybe a ton wasn't absorbed, I've noticed that sometimes - even a little stress will drive it up. So I would think it's possible.
