Country's top girls hoops recruit Aaliyah Chavez passes 4,000 points, now 40th all-time

One of the country’s top recruits just entered rarified air.

Aaliyah Chavez of Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas, surpassed 4,000 career points last week, according to Aaron Willaims from MaxPreps.

Chavez, a 5-foot-11 point guard, is listed as a 5-star prospect and the No. 1 recruit in the country by 247 Sports.

On Tuesday, Chavez dropped another 48 points in a 74-43 win over rival Lubbock High to bring her career total to 4,062, placing her 40th on the country’s all-time girls basketball scoring list, according to MaxPreps.

With 12 games remaining, Chavez has already scored 717 points in her senior season. This after dropping 1,001 points as a freshman, 1,020 as a sophomore and 1,324 as a junior.
