Frosty getting there...

Totally organic grow almost done, with temps falling into the low 30’s at night this week hope the greenhouse can hold its warmth. Getting a lot of sugar on the buds. Trying to go till November.

So how big is your enclosure?

I once tried one of those little plastic greenhouse things at high elevation and for heat I placed a group of terra cotta pots stacked like little ovens with big candles in them, three gave off enough heat to keep it 42F inside during the chilliest hours. A 1" wide 6" tall candle, like they have in those camping kits will do, just get it going before going to bed. Also, I had a couple lightweight bunting style blankets that I put on the top of it to help hold in the heat, removed them during the day.

If your room is small, that could be enough to hold them into chilly months, even a small space heater would do.

The house is 20 x 10 x 7. We thought about the terracotta pot idea and may give it a try. The greenhouse is 200 feet from our house where the electricity is plus electricity is expensive, really looong extension cord.

I have a propane heater but it’s in the Upper Peninsula getting ready for an Elk hunt, a friend borrowed it. Actually got it for spring…didn’t think 30’s would come so quickly. Ah well life in the garden!

Think I got it figgered…as I was tapping this out my crazy mind went on a rampage. I have a few 5 gallon plastic bucket filled with rocks and stones we pull out of the beds. They’ve been sitting out in the sun all summer…I’ll just place them around the grow bag. Don’t know why 5he freaking heck I save those things but I got a reason now!

Your bunting blanket idea gave me direction…think I got an old horse blanket around. All this an now a scavenger hunt.

Thanks 2na!
Greg.

Kick around ideas, and having a homestead with "things" just hanging around is essential at times!

Happy hunting!

they will give off some warmth at night. Low 30's in greenhouse should be fine.
