Puerto Rico independence activist wraps up visit to Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba (ACN) — The Puerto Rican independence activist Oscar López Rivera ended his visit to Cuba by reiterating that the reality was much more than he had dreamed of.

“It has been happier, more intense and much more rewarding than I expected,” he said.

This Sunday he was seen off at the José Martí International Airport by Fernando González Llort, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), who shared four years in a prison cell in the United States with López Rivera.

López Rivera thanked the Cuban people for joining the campaign for his release from US prison — he spent almost 36 years incarcerated — and for the love he had received since his arrival in Cuba on November 12.
