And now the threats come ...
Already seeing the sore losers whining about how much we need them and making subtle threats.
I have three things to say to that:
1 - If someone's going to threaten you with sitting it out, then let them do it. I didn't respond to that kind of blackmail in 2016 and I certainly won't now. All the friends that told me, “the Berners will sit this out while the other candidates supporters won't so you're forced to vote for Bernie” heard me reply that I'd vote for Trump before I'd ever be blackmailed and, since I would never vote for Trump, the blackmail has even less of a chance of convincing me.
2 - If certain Berners don't care enough about children in cages and the rights of marginalized people being eroded by the horrible people Trump is stacking the judicial branch with that they'd put their cult-like obsession with Bernie aside to do the right thing, no amount of smiles or policy tweaks or VP picks from Joe Biden is going to make any difference at all.
3 - So few of these young Bernie voters even turned out to vote. These people that only participate in the electoral process when it's Bernie weren't ever going to be ours to begin with and if anything is going to motivate them to do the right thing, well, see item #2.

(387 posts)Trying to say, the timing is off IMO. We should allow some venting now. He was and is their favorite.

(1,729 posts)Threats are another and these threats have been happening the entire time. This isn't something that just happened today.
The bottom line is this: If someone isn't going to do the right thing because there are children in cages and rights being eroded on the daily, they aren't going to do it because we give them a hug. To think otherwise is very naive.

(387 posts)They may say something they don’t mean. Do I believe there will be some who won’t vote at all? Likely, especially considering what happened last time. The General Election is still a little less than 8 months away. That is plenty of time for ALL voters to be reminded over and over the stark contrast between Biden and Trump. I believe the number that will sit out this time because Bernie didn’t win will be very small. The stakes are way too high.
I just think the timing of this OP, is a little off. They are grieving their candidate not doing so well.

(1,729 posts)this is a message I've seen for weeks. This isn't something from today.
And quite honestly, I don't care what you think of my timing. To quote Nene Leakes, I said what I said.

(387 posts)Now you made me laugh, in a good way. “I said what I said”. Me too I’m just not ready to throw flames. Now if it continues in the next few months, I will be right there with you all the way

(1,729 posts)… but this has been ridiculous. These people should have learned in 2016 what they're "sit it out" means. This isn't 2016. We actually have the hindsight of nearly four years of this monster of a president.

(16,328 posts)It’s hard when your favorite loses. I’ve been there a few times, it’s not fun. People will go through the stages of grief and most will come around and support the nominee. Hurt feelings need time to heal.

Bernie's supporters have strong passion that I appreciate and we do need them... the dreams don't die and they need to know that all the ideas they are passionate about are the same things we want...

(1,729 posts)There's nothing gloating or indecent about my post. I've already seen threats on another thread here that I replied to and they are coming fast and furious on social media. None of us owes anybody a thing. If the Bernie or Busters don't care enough about kids in cages to do the right thing, do you really think some warm and friendly smiles from you are gonna help? I don't.

(166 posts)If things don’t turn upside down or he actually did start to show signs of age, it will be fine. Biden is a stronger candidate than Hillary (note: I didn’t say better). Any losses in the Bernie category probably didn’t vote for Hillary in 2016 anyway. Biden will be much stronger among “the poor and uneducated” that Trump loves so much. By the time she was the nominee, the anti-Hillary moderates didn’t want to vote for her. Throw in Comey and Benghazi and she was fatally wounded on Election Day. A large part of the GOP will vote for Trump no matter what, but there won’t be the pure hatred driving them to the polls that there was 4 years ago when they were faced with the prospect of the greatest villian (to the GOP) in modern political history. It sucked because she would’ve made a great president and we would’ve avoided the catastrophic Trump WH, but they won’t be able to drive up the hatred for Biden that way and the Hunter bullshit won’t carry weight the way that Benghazi pizzagate theories did.
