If it were a donation of funds held in a campaign war-chest, it might be taken as indicating Sanders was bringing his doomed campaign to a halt.

If this is simply a touting of his asking followers to contribute to charities through his campaign, that is something else again. That is not a sign he has done 'what a real campaign does that actually cares about the issues', it is just posturing in his own interest. There is no need for people to channel charitable donations through the Sanders campaign, after all. A call to his followers to donate would have been just as effective. But it would not have provided a tally for Sanders to bruit about as proof' he alone cares.

It's a reflection of the candidate who, too, has been taking credit for the work of others - i.e., "The Amendment King". Thankfully they've done it so much that people have finally caught on.

and send people who want to donate directly to the charities that are helping? The money would in all likelihood get there faster, which in itself could save some lives.

6. Wrong. His campaign is NOT using "its funds". He's just giving the link to the charities....

...on Act Blue. His campaign hasn't given a penny to any of the charities.

What would have been more effective is the contact information for each of the charities so people could contribute directly, eliminating the middle man and getting more money to the charities.

There are significant transaction and credit card fees involved. Depending upon the size of the transaction up to 20% could be deducted.

and linking to charities is not a real campaign. It is a dishonest campaign. Bernie needs to stop using any pretext to continue a campaign that now has become a helper to the President it claims to be working against.

He is politicizing a health crisis. And he is diverting the donations from his supporters to promote causes of his choice.

I gave this example before: imagine Trump diverting conntributions to his campaign to fund organizations like NRA and Republican National Coalition for Life. What would you say to THAT?

If he sincerely wanted to raise money to help the COVID victims, he would have gotten out of politics and started a non-profit charitable organization. And he would have staffed it with competent professionals, not his political operatives.

We've been battling epidemic disease successfully all this century. Then COVID arrived when mentally disordered, sociopathic Trump is in the WH and when, double tragically, RW extremist, probably sociopathic Republicans control the senate. And refused to contain it.

The need for some "redemptive" PR is is entirely clear, but forget it. From them, that it's only about good intentions toward others is not credible. I will never forget or forgive the horrendous role Sanders and his camp played in bringing us to this.
