But can you believe that there are some out there (and in here) who are railing against it? They're actually saying things like: "I don't know why any politician would pledge to exclude half the population on the basis of gender."

Argh! It just never ends, does it?

6. I've come to the conclusion that a female VP . . .

Will be the likely path to an eventual female president. I'm judging that on the reactions (purely sexist) to women like Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren. People, mostly men but some women, too, will need to see a woman a heartbeat away from the presidency before they'll embrace even the idea of a woman in charge. I've come to that conclusion after recalling comments said about HRC then hearing/reading them about Elizabeth Warren:

Well, of course we'd vote for a woman, only not that woman.

Aghhhhh.

The Michigan primary really brought it home for me when white working class voters gave their nod to Biden after voting Sanders in 2016. The 2016 vote was obviously not a full bow to Bernie Sanders or his ideas. Sadly, it was an anti-Hillary vote, one of the most qualified candidates to run in decades. Yes, the GOP smear machine was in full tilt but I'm convinced raw sexism played a larger part.

Clinton and Warren are both strong personalities, smart and no-nonsense types, the sort of women who could easily take charge of any challenge. I anticipate that Biden will pick another strong woman as his second and allow whoever that choice is to have as big a role as he did during the Obama years. In doing so, voters--the doubting ones--can ease into the idea of a competent, confident woman at the helm. And for 2020, Biden has a deep pool of excellent, qualified women to consider. I suspect the hard part will be choosing only one.

That said, I want to believe all this because I really want to see a female president before I cash out. If it takes having a female VP first? I'm willing to play the preview game.

Still makes my heart hurt when I think of what was done to Hillary. What a lost opportunity!

But Onward and Upward is in the right direction.
