Democrats have few options for challenging Trump and GOP majorities in Congress. Some on the left say they had a chance last week, but top Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer voted with the GOP and supplied the needed votes to pass a funding bill, angering many in his party. (35,492 posts)We would’ve been further culling the herd for them…thousands of workers would’ve had to move on because of no pay.
And all the civil cases running right now against muskrat and vp trump would’ve been lost…gone…then what. And, no new cases could be filed. What if the government had been shutdown when tsf declared he was enacting the aliens and enemies act…how many more would’ve been illegally deported.
You can apply these two of now dozens and dozens of situations and it could be so so much worse
I’m not arguing…so don’t come at me! I am no different than anyone else here. Sick to death, worried all the time about what’s going to happen. The optics in the short term might have looked better if things had shut down, but in the long run probably not.

(6,977 posts)as easy as a hot dog wrapper blows in the wind. In fact it may not have to be a wind but rather more like a whisper of a breeze. It's like if Schumer got into a cab in Manhattan and asked the cabbie how much to take him to Jersey and while the cabbie is figuring the rate Schumer interrupts the cabbie and says "here just take all my money". Schumer and a dress shirt in a store are alike because each one is folded before you get there.
