We’re approaching the fourth anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2026. There’s been a few inflection points recently, including talks of a peace deal amidst the ongoing conflict.

Tim Mak is a journalist and the founder of The Counteroffensive, which covers the war in Ukraine from a human interest perspective. He joins Chris Hayes to discuss what life has been like for him living in Kyiv, what he sees as a way forward politically and more.

It's always possible. But I have a sneaking suspicion that Ukraine has some surprises in store for Russia. Surprises that will shock Putin, the Kremlin and the world. Something along the lines of "Operation Spiderweb" only much more intense. Russia is already wounded militarily, economically and politically. Metaphorically speaking, a good left-right uppercut, one-two punch might be all it takes to end the war in Ukraine's favor.
