1. Free Press? What's free? The lying or the reach around?

Sorry, first, I’m new here…I’ve been frustrated. Frankly, more angry than frustrated at the media - social media, too for that matter. I’m sick of the BS from the media pretending to know what’s happening, but not really knowing. Wtf are they are talking about? Right now they look like idiots and so do we because of them. Is this some double agent trickery that the alt right has in play?
How can we have all the network media, cable news shows, and social media pundits saying Harris is winning. Then she ends up getting smoked really bad? If this is what those idiots felt like in 2020 when they woke up to find Joe Biden won. I get it. This sucks!

2. I certainly agree that this sucks and I'm sure that others here are with me.

Though, for me, it's not so much what was reported in the media, since we kept hearing that it was a "toss up," which I didn't get at all. I was waiting for the election to be over so we wouldn't have to worry anymore about the threats and all the other anti-democratic and anti-American outcomes that were coming from the convicted felon and insurrectionist who was inexplicably permitted to run. What I will never understand is who would be willing to vote for that. But I have since learned that far too many were not paying in the least attention and I read yesterday that it's been documented that there were an unprecedented number of last minute searches by the uninformed to find out who was running.

4. Its worst than that, it seems there was a surge of searches about "What are tariffs?" after the election.

So these people voted for trump and then tried to find out what it is the guy promised to do atht is going to affect their bottom line, their lives.

A lot of Latinos are now worried trump is going to deport family and friends, that after they voted for him.

The same happened in England after the "Brexit" vote, "What is Brexit" became the #1 search in Google after they had voted to renounce their membership in the EU.

We have to face it, the USA is a politically fanatic country, people don't take the time to learn what will affect their lives, they just vote for their "team". A friend of mine once told me "My grandparents were republican, my parents are republican, so I am a republican", and although she is a smart woman, politically she is very ignorant, but nonetheless, she votes republican because...

This election has ended the "era of decency" in the USA, people decided to vote for a very indecent man, a convicted felon, the list is too long to point out all his character flaws, but that is what has happened in 2024 in the USA.

5. Oh, and I know! Good Grief!

And you're right, not too many have the time or inclination to follow the news like we do here. I never followed the news all that closely until 9/11. I'm in New York and I was sure the world was about to end. So I started reading and paying closer attention and fortunately found DU in early 2003 - and I continue to learn a lot here each and every day.

As for the tariffs, most of us "get it" if we follow the news or if it's explained just once. The sad and scary part is that the one who started this misunderstanding and still doesn't "get it" was just elected by those he misinformed.

3. They brought it onto themselves by normalizing trump and his minions.

One expects "journalists" to understand and be privy of what happens in countries where an autocrat takes power, the first thing they do is eliminate any dissent from anyone, the first to suffer from it is the media. They celebrated the atrocities that trump committed everyday, they wanted to sell their brand, so now its time to reap their "benefits", and those "benefits" are primarily becoming slaves of the dictator.

They should have known, it happens in every dictatorship, why they thought it would be different here? It is the same as those people who get close to trump thinking they are so special they will never be thrown under the bus, until they find themselves under the bus.

Media, enjoy your slavery, your closings, your job losses, you brought it onto yourselves for selecting to be the traitors you have been since 2015. I hope you saved all that money you made by campaigning for the guy, you will need it, although I know some of you will be happy to be the slaves you are about to become.

6. And Lincoln Project; Meidas; are "bad people"- they'll be Shut Down.

There will be no criticism of trump from CBS ABC or MSNBC as they'll be fined or shut down. Nor from the Post or the NY Times. And Huffington Post better not be run by "bad people". Fox Propaganda will be on OVERDRIVE. Can't sue 'em anymore.
