1. That is nothing compared to the ignorance

that the right and the media have about the Dept of Energy.

They all think that it has something to do with oil, gas, and coal... and/or solar and wind.

you know, energy that we use.

while it has some small part in those things ( sadly I suspect even after Trump figures out what it really does, he will gut the small amount of the federal budget that goes to the NREL which is a part of the DOE ).

However, that is NOT the mission of the DOE. You see, nuclear explosions are very "energetic" ( one might say kinetic ). The DOE is the Manhattan Project... on cold war steroids. DOE is charged with developing and maintaining our nuclear weapon stockpile.

But just try to explain that to either the MAGAts or the media.
