2. Funny how the rich knew all this before the election, but didn't bring it up until after the election.

They knew damn well Trump was speaking nonsense, but they let him go on, unchallenged. They wanted him elected so they could get their precious tax cuts.

Now that they got him elected, they are trying to talk Trump out of enacting tariffs. Let's see if their Frankenstein monster listens to them. If his biggest donors, i.e. Eloon, really lean on him, I think Trump will capitulate, and say some face-saving bullshit like, "the countries have already done what I demanded, so there is no need for tariffs."

I think he is already positioning himself to do that by conditioning tariffs on the countries stopping exporting fentanyl. That will be an easy one to declare victory on since countries are already not doing that. Over 90% of fentanyl is smuggled into the US by US citizens, not by foreign governments.

It gets sneaked into the country, no tariff if you are sneaky!

BUT . . . you want to buy something made in China and not made in the USA?

Pre tariff price $100, say.

Importer pays that, puts on the tariff on that part when it goes out to shops.

You now are asked to pay $135 and $35 of that goes to the government.

China doesn't pay, the consumer does.

Tariffs stifle consumer willingness to buy.
