I just found the title misleading. I don't think Socrates said "why democracies always fail" .
But the problem seems to be unthinking uncaring people.
One could just as easily say that autocracies fail as well.

is that democracy not ONLY need a competent leader, but a commited electorate as well.
A leader can't do it all, it takes ALL OF US..
