11. Probably not a lot, but Crime Stoppers is a reward program for tips on violent crimes

The NYPD, like most big city police departments, will usually call press conferences for "newsworthy" crimes, like the brazen murder of a CEO on a Wednesday morning in Midtown Manhattan. If the press is baying for it, they'll set up the podium. You're quite right that they probably don't set up the podium for every shooting in Flushing, Brownsville, Grand Concourse, or even LES.

I understand your point here: that this murder victim is getting special treatment because he's a rich, white, CEO. Yes, surely. I guess I'm just pointing out that the treatment, while special, is not as special as you're making it out to be.
