8. I still bear a grudge, but give credit where credit is due

He jumped on the bandwagon to ruin Al Franken’s Senate career, and, as far as I know, has never apologized.

But he remains a forceful speaker, and he has a wicked sense of humor. Back in January, in DC, a bunch of us were in a locale celebrating Rubén Gallego’s Senate swearing in. My brother and I were chatting with Mark Kelly when Corey Booker, in blue jeans, came to get Mark to an improvised podium for a few short improvised speeches. Booker apologized for the interruption, saying he was just Mark’s bodyguard. I said I wasn’t aware that the New Jersey mafia had enforcers named Corey. He laughed and said something like “busted.” He’s very quick, and should not be underestimated.
