The controversy is what Trump said to the men's hockey team when Kash Patel got him on the phone while they were celebrating in the locker room after the game. Trump invited the men's team to the State of the Union address, then he said, "I must tell you, we're gonna have to bring the women's team. You do know that," adding, "I do believe I probably would be impeached. Okay." Treating women as a punchline is something we expect from Trump, but it is really disappointing to see the men's team laugh at that joke about their fellow athletes. One of the players was later pictured wearing a MAGA hat, which explains a lot:
