And not all Christians are conservative. Most of the ones I know are further left than me. Find some Episcopalians or ELCA Lutherans if you want to meet people who are both very left-wing and sincerely religious (e.g. Bishop Marianne Budde). I don't know what Talarico's denomination is, but I think he's sincere about both his faith and his politics.
