strong storm is here in hawai'i - 100K out of power, evacuations, heavy rain etc etc [View all]

our power was out for 9 hours then off and on a few short times but obviously on now. Elec Co warning that half the island of Oahu could be out of power overnight if situation does not improve enuff to get crews out there. Fortunately I am not on the circuit affected by down towers.

loads of rain, 4 inches most places and much more in many. the drought is over as dry sides of the islands are getting the most rain.

winds are strong most places and hurricane force thru canyons and valleys that funnel wind.

interesting weather situation for weather nerds - a huge low is blocked on the east and north so is just sitting there pumping out waves of storminess. won't be breaking the block til late sunday
