That's his excuse for missing the festivities in the Bahamas, but "all work and no play" will surely steer him onto the links for a round or two to relax and clear his brain. 
Ater all, Jr. will understand the need for a quick 3-hour break.
And then, if there was a fleeting thought to whip down to the Bahamas, there's all that schlepping of formalwear for both he and Malaria, and all that bother, etc. for just a few hours, so hardly worth the overwhelming effort and better to just stay in NJ because the flights to and fro would eat up so much extra time, etc., and Jr. will understand.
In other words, chump has no intention of doing anything on this weekend that he wouldn't do on any other, and how dare Jr. decide to marry on a Saturday of a 3-day weekend anyway? Jr. will have to understand.
Besides, he can just wait to go to Jr.'s next wedding.
