Fascinating if true, but uncharacteristic of the regime. Could be the pain reinforcement learning talking, but I wish I had a dollar for every time someone said it can't possibly get worse right before it got much worse.

Rather than asking whether a given situation could deteriorate further, I have become accustomed to asking how it will get even worse. What seems likely to me is that the deminishment of the USA's leadership role in global affairs is wrapping up, with Russia already meeting many of its long-term goals. The next phase must be devoted to intense concentration of capital among a global elite -- these are debts which must be paid by those currently wielding the nation's power.
