97. The ads they ran against Kamala Harris doomed her campaign imo.

Thursday

They dredged up a tape of her in an interview advocating for gender affirming surgeries for undocumented prisoners. They ran those ads over and over during football games and the evening news.

In context, I agree with what Harris said. The tiny number of undocumented trans prisoners deserve healthcare just as much as every other prisoner does. It's a basic human right. And the cost would be minimal considering how few people are involved. But taken out of context - as Republicans do - it made Harris sound like she didn't care about anybody else. The follow up ads hammered the point home: Harris is for they/them, Trump is for you.

It was devastating to her campaign. We must avoid this trap. I say this as a gay woman with a trans daughter. Win the elections.
