Why don't I feel bad or at least concerned about them? [View all]

The right, particularly MAGA's, when it comes to healthcare outcomes. I use to care a lot from a moral standpoint and the fact that these attitudes cause a huge drag on our healthcare system. Instead of preventative care, they will all end up in the ED at some point with something acute, and treatment will be unnecessarily expensive even if they're too far gone to survive.

Perhaps, post covid, my empathy for them has simply calcified to the point I just don't care what happens to them anymore. I do worry about the impact of this phenomenon on infectious disease spread to innocent people, but beyond that, I just don't care. How do you feel about this?

Growing Republican mistrust in the healthcare system has widened health disparities between liberals and conservatives, who are more likely to avoid vaccines and the medical system in general, according to a new study.

Neil O’Brian, a political science professor at the University of Carolina, Chapel Hill and one of the authors of the study published in Nature Human Behaviour, said that his team saw two phases to the phenomenon.
