19. X is indispensable for freedom of speech
Wed Jun 10, 2026, 03:48 PM
Wednesday

I can do my own "moderating." My feed gets controversy from both the left and right. Some of the things said are quite seriously deranged and go too far. That's fine. It's part of the fun of freedom to see things in their natural state.

There's absolutely no way I would accept having the self-selected monks of any political religion decide what I get to hear or read. For people who like to think, that's the very definition of Hell. Whether it's a dainty fringe trying to be kind (and not being) or a nasty fringe trying to be tyrannical thug trash, a censor is a censor.

My ears and eyes, my choice.

There are a ridiculously huge number of Democrats on X, of course. I see abandoning X by some who consider themselves to be on the left as foolish, frankly. Jump in. The water is fine. If you hear something that makes you frown, you'll live.

Liberalism and progressivism can't live in a protected bubble. They need to state their case openly, honestly, strongly, and, hopefully persuasively. It's the only way to win.
