Trump calls for Raskin's expulsion, suggests 'he'd be in jail right now' if not for Biden pardon [View all]

President Trump called for Rep. Jamie Raskin's (D-Md.) expulsion from Congress on Thursday afternoon and claimed the lawmaker would "be in jail" if not for a pardon from former President Biden.

Trump responded on Truth Social to a post from conservative commentator Mark Levin, who warned that the Maryland Democrat was "already leading a plot to impeach the President if the Democrats take the House" in November.

"Jamie Raskin, a Loser in Life, who worked endlessly during my First Term to impeach me, and failed miserably, wasting the Country's money, time, and effort, will guaranteed be trying to do it again, despite one of the most successful Presidencies in History," the president wrote Thursday afternoon.

Raskin was part of the House's select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, and he supported the effort to impeach Trump on charges related to the riots. Biden pardoned Raskin and other committee members ahead of Trump's second inauguration, after Trump suggested that lawmakers on this panel "should go to jail."
