A bit overrated IMO. When I was an art student way back he was one of the many men shown and lectured about to the exclusion of hundreds of women doing equally great if not better work.

The greatest test of art has always been for viewers to observe it not knowing the artist's name.

Amazing how so many historical pieces of art are labeled "anonymous" when it's obvious they were female artists unable to use their real name.
