unrecoverable brain injury from this modern-day gladiator nonsense, but even if I didn't, I cannot help but look at these shirtless (and thus technically 'half naked') men barefoot and kicking with great force-- and being reminded of the most aggressive non-human primate, Chimpanzees (as well as many species of monkeys) who use their bare hands and feet to kill even members of their own group. Not to mention the use of teeth to rip the face and carotid artery from their opponent, but I guess we haven't quite replicated THAT.
But those head level kicks with bare chest and feet do not look like any human I want to associate with or be compared to. They look like menacing, nasty, instinctively-aggressive nonhuman primates.
I guess all know how I feel. If MMA is your thing, sorry, not sorry. I cannot agree. Whether based on my professional assessment of risk or my own instinctive reaction to the "sport." NOPE. And yes, I am quite aware that this is only a few degrees less dangerous and brutal than many other sports, including football, but at least in the latter some effort to decrease risk with protective equipment AND RULES exist. To the extent the latter occurs in MMA, I certainly don't see it and it feels so much like a gladiator event, I am just appalled. Okay, fans can go after me now, and I suspect there may be some on DU, but again, sorry, NOT SORRY.
