1. When a state slashes taxes, that leaves it starving for money......

Look at Kansas and other states run by Republicans. Slash taxes so low, there is no money for the running of the Government. Everything suffers. Infrastructure, services, Schools, etc.

Nice things cost money. Apparently Republicans have not figured that out.
