Putin may be satisfied now with captured territory, but he will be back. That’s why the US needs to do what it can now to strengthen Ukraine for a future fight.

Putin wants all of Ukraine, and Trump will give him the green light to take it and may even send military aid to Russia. The question is what the EU countries that have also been supporting Ukraine will do. Will they be able or willing to fill the gap the US will leave? They really have much more at stake because Putin’s intent is clear to rebuild the old USSR. Countries like Poland will not want Russia on their doorstep.
