1. This is actually a victory for Scholz

Without getting into all the details of the situation in Germany politically right now or the parliamentary processes, this was good news and was what Scholz wanted so that there is an election in February. The AFD - the ultra right nationalist party that is anti-immigrant and much more - wanted Scholz to win today and to be forced to stay and be weakened through to the scheduled fall elections and not in 2 months.

The US news doesn’t explain these things - but this will give a chance for the German people to save the Government from falling into the hands of the AFD and right wing extremist efforts to destabilize it.
