12. There's still a very strong belief in honor in East Asia, but not in the same way as the Middle East/South Asia

For many in places like China, Japan, and Korea, being captured would be considered dishonorable. They would rather die than being captured because it would be seen as a disgrace. It goes back hundreds of years.
