Actor David Burke, celebrated for his portrayal of Dr Watson in a television adaptation of Sherlock Holmes, has died at the age of 92. His agent Scott Marshall Partners announced on Friday that Burke passed away on May 10, leaving behind his wife Anna Calder-Marshall and son Tom Burke.
Burke refined his skills at the prestigious drama school Rada before embarking on a distinguished career across stage, television and radio. He appeared in a production of King Lear at the National Theatre alongside Lord Of The Rings star Ian Holm, featured in the beloved TV series Midsomer Murders, and starred opposite Felicity Kendal in The Woodlanders. In the 1980s television series The Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes, he brought to life the iconic detective's trusted companion Dr Watson, appearing alongside Jeremy Brett in the title role.
His son Tom has carved out an equally impressive career, earning recognition for his work in the BBC drama The Musketeers and his compelling portrayal of Cormoran Strike in the series Strike.
Tom recently appeared alongside Steve Coogan in the Netflix production Legends, which made its debut on the streaming platform earlier this month, reports the Daily Star.
