we have black walnut trees too, this year we've noticed that there aren't any fruits (nuts), Fine with me but why?

I have years like that. Last year, almost no walnuts. This year? A few hundred pounds of them.

We had a Black Walnut that we had to cut down for similar reasons, but we gave the lumber to an artisan cabinet maker.

We built expensive raised beds "under the Walnut tree before we discovered. Even with the tree gone and fresh soil......

Depending on what is on her roof. Asphalt shingles would be my guess. You are probably doing more harm than good.
