Obscure Bird Grasshopper [View all]

Large and colorful, there is nothing obscure about it. The colors on the grasshopper do allow it to blend well on flowers, however.
It is in the family of short-horned grasshoppers because it does have short antennae for a grasshopper its size.

Better view of its Tarsus and Claws. Claws are at the tip of the Tarsus.

Side view of the Pronotum - the backplate-like covering.

Its Tibia tucked behind its Femur. Tibia has the black and yellow spike-like protrusions.

View of its Palpus - the dangling sprouts at its mouth.
