I saw him play at an Army enlisted mens club with the band way before The Band. So rowdy excellent! This was at a place where most guys in the hall were on their way to Vietnam. Guys would jump up on tables and howl and other guys would run over to knock ‘em down. The MPs would wade into the crowd billie sticks slashing while the band rocked on. I remember recounting this show at a forward fire base with a guy who spent a week at Tripler ofte taking one in the head who thought it well worth it. Me too.
