3. I've taken note of the amount of water it takes to grow a single

almond in CA for many years. San Diego has had severe droughts in the 2000s. When I initially learned of the amount of water it takes to grow a single nut I boycotted CA almonds. Then I learned that it isn't just the water for this single product but most of CA's products. This is unsustainable for all products.
