If they eliminate St. Patrick's Day I'll be quite miffed.

No really, recognizing different minority groups is good. If I'm not interested in participating in one of those things, I can easily opt out. And no one will even notice. The same to everyone else. If some particular group isn't your personal favorite, fine. We all have our opinions about these kinds of things. And mostly it's connected to those you know about.
